The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is a beautiful setting for thousands and thousands of high altitude plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. With the stunning backdrop of the magnificent ore Mountain Range, the gardens is the perfect place to spend an idyllic summer’s day. Enjoy the perennial flower beds, the natural rock gardens, dramatic waterfalls and water features while exploring a breathtaking array of plants that grow at 8,250 feet above sea level. The Garden is free to the public and sees an estimated 100,000 visitors each year.
The Betty Ford Alpine Garden is recognized as the foremost authority on high altitude plants and boasts a strong conservation and research program as well as offering many educational classes, docent-led tours and outdoor art classes.
The Gardens were created in 1988 and named in honor of the former first lady for her many contributions to the Vail valley. The Betty Ford garden is situated next to the Gerald. R. Ford Amphitheater at the east end of Vail Village, next to Manor Vail Resort.
